A lot of people are reluctant when it comes to astrology. They don’t quite “get it”. Or, even worse, they “don’t really believe in it”. By lack of scientific evidence, of course.

And yet, people are doing a lot of things without the slightest scientific evidence. And they’re doing them every day. Did you know why you’re sleeping, for instance? Do you have some scientific evidence regarding sleep? Science may explain you the downside of not getting enough sleep, but it won’t tell you WHAT is sleep. And still, you’re sleeping every day (at least I hope you do).

We tend to give in too much to this verifiable scientific approach. Too many parts of our lives are scrutinized and explained by science. Even the ones that shouldn’t.

Predictions Are About The Context

I studied astrology for the last 5 years. I think I studied a few hundreds natal charts so far. And I also had a few dozens in person readings. I don’t make a living out of this. I don’t charge people for it. I do it for the sake of it and because I’m incurably curious.

Each and every in person reading started with a question regarding the future of a certain outcome. Will I make money within 5 years from now? Will I break up with my fiance? Will I have a fantastic career? All those questions pertained to something in the future.

And to all the people with whom I worked, I told the same thing: astrology is just a context. If you really want to go from A to B, you’ll eventually get there. Astrology can only tell you something about the weather. If it will be sunny and worm, you may get there faster. If it will be rainy and stormy, you may be delayed. And if there will be some serious hurricanes, you may have a really, really hard time to get there: you’ll lose your house, your car and maybe your health will be seriously damaged. But the bottom line is that if you really want to go from point A to point B, you’ll get there. This has nothing to do with astrology.

The predictive astrology is way overrated. The imminence of a certain event is highly exaggerated. Or, to be more precise, is highly misunderstood. Any prediction astrology may give is related to a context of a specific event, not to an event in itself. The predictions may tell you that it will be windy, so your actions should be more solid. Or it will tell you that it will be so warm that you can get melted. That’s the core of a correct astrological prediction.

If You Can’t See It, It Doesn’t Mean It Isn’t There

But the whole astrological approach requires a little bit of a shifting in perception. This whole new level of invisible – and scientifically impossible to prove – energy is acting with or without our consent. The same way weather is acting without our consent. We can try to control it. With huge costs and incredible efforts we may force the rain to came into the desert, but in the long term this activity is not sustainable. Or we may adapt and adjust. We may try to understand how the forces of cold and warm, of wet and dry, of storms and hurricanes can form, can grow and how they are affecting out context.

And then, we may chose our path accordingly.

We’re starting to add content a little bit more frequently to AstrologyBits, which, by the way, is something that I enjoy a lot. I just hope you do too.

This is just a short announcement to let you know that I’ve added 2 new sections to the site: Astrological Signs and Astrological Houses.

In the first section you will find information about solar signs, the ones that you already know from the European Zodiac. As in any AstrologyBits section, the information will be rather short and easy to digest. As much as I favor research and documentation, I find that once you decide to share your knowledge you must do it in a very easy to read, transparent and digestible way. There are already descriptions for Aries, Taurus and Gemini, please read at your leisure.

The second section is about Astrological Houses. That’s a little bit advanced and for somebody who never studied astrology beyond the solar signs general characteristics it’s also something pretty new. Let’s say for now that Houses are the earthy reflection of the stellar vibrations of the signs. There’s a little bit more to Houses than just that but for now it will do it. Until now there’s only a single description, the First House, a really quick read, so feel free to grasp it whenever you have the time.

That’s it for today, I will go back to experiencing Saturn’s Transit to Libra for now.

One thing that really surprised me while learning astrology was the Mercury behavior in the natal chart. There is something strange about natal Mercury and that is the fact that you can’t really perceive it. Mercury is your thinking mind and you’re perceiving the world with your mind. This puts a veil on your Mercury behavior. It obfuscates your efforts of understanding because you’re using the same tool for searching and for the goal of your search. It’s like using a lantern to understand light: the light is already there. What you can understand after a while is the core nature of that light. You do that mainly by comparing your own lantern with other people’s lanterns.

Mercury In Scorpio

I have Mercury in Scorpio, in the 10th House. This placements makes for a really restless and curious mind. I have always been interested in searching hidden things. I am also more ready to find out things about others than to reveal things about my self. But when I do it, I try to summarize and give tons of details.

Mercury in Scorpio makes me act really well if I have to explain difficult things. It gives me a sense of ease of not only describing things but also of perceiving them. Mercury digs deeper in the hidden and mysterious realm.

The downside of having this restless curiosity is that I also have a restless desire to know. And by restless, I mean restless: I find it difficult to take a break, to relax, to just enjoy. There is always something new that waits to be discovered, there is always something unsolved in my back rooms that waits for its turn to be lighted and there is always something distracting at the horizon.

Sometimes I love to talk just to uncover things or just by the sake of talking. In an argument, that makes me quit difficult: I always find reasons to continue until I left the argument subject dead and dried. Perhaps Mercury in Scorpio is responsible for my language ease, and I’m not talking only about spoken languages, I do know and use several programming languages, like C, PHP or Java. Of course, I get easily bored about using one of them which makes jump quite often around these technologies.

Mercury in Scorpio is also responsible for my traveling habits. Whenever I travel more than several days, my Mercury enters the scene and takes control. I find my way extremely easy regardless of the city or language, and I traveled across 4 continents already. Even when I was in Japan, my Mercury helped me get along with ease, although the discomfort of not knowing the language well was still present.

I get bored easily. And I mean, really easily, I need to find always something to do or think at, otherwise my Mercury will do something strange: will resign and will let me at the will of circumstances. It’s like telling me: use me (or better said: over use me, abuse me) or I will stop serving you.

Mercury In The 10th House

The 10th house is the house of public recognition and success. I already have there a very close conjunction between Sun, Venus and Jupiter, which basically teleported me in visible places for my entire life; I’ve always been visible, even if I tried to keep a low profile. In the 10th house, near the 11th cusp, I have my Mercury, in a dissociated conjunction with Neptune in Sagittarius. For a while, under this influence, I earned my life by talking out loud (worked in an FM radio, as an anchor man) and after that I started a web publishing company. Everything involved speaking, writing and discovering new things.

Mercury in the 10th house gave this so called commercial talent. It’s not really a talent, more like an obsession, I’m always interested about an intrinsic value of a thing or an action. I’ve always spotted new ways of making money (maybe not always hugely profitable, but innovative) and applied them. A closer conjunction with Jupiter would have made this into a fortune, which is not the case now. So far, I mean.

Mercury in the 10th house made for a lot of business travel. My very first long trips were business related. And one of my core business was for more than 8 years a web portal about cars.

Another interesting earthly thing Mercury influenced by its 10th house position was my negotiating skills. I’m not the best negotiator in the world, mainly because I do like to experience both sides of a discussion, but I find my way easily and can take upon any negotiation as long as it’s a challenging one.

The downside of this placement is that the Mercury area is somehow limited by the material interest. I do love to create businesses and manage them for a while, but sometimes I feel the need for something a little bit different.

Dissociated Conjunction With Neptune In The 11th House

One final word about this conjunction between Mercury and Neptune.

Although the effects are not always strong, because the conjunction spans both a house and a sign cusp, I can feel them sometimes. This conjunction gives me both great intuition and the ability to fool myself, depending on the Neptune polarity at the moment. I can either have deep, strong intuitions, but the deceving nature of Neptune can make me sometimes manipulative or simply wrong.

Both with my self as in regard to others.
