In astrology, Venus represents love, pure and simple. It also represent refinement and the tendency to indulge. In a natal chart, Venus shows how we approach relationships, generally speaking, as well as what gives as pleasure.
Venus is also about the attraction. As such, it rules everything that deals with it: how we attract other people or things into our lives, and what kind of game we play in order to make ourselves attractive.
In one’s chart, Venus will also affect how we spend money.
If Moon is generally about emotions, all of them, Venus is specifically about the warm, romantic feelings we express in regard to other people. Depending on Venus position in sign and house, we will express (and consume) those feelings in a specific way. Harmony and good taste are also two areas governed by Venus.
When Venus turns retrograde, it’s possible to experience the need to buy expensive (or just unnecessary) goods or to indulge in some sort of pleasurable activities. Usually, after the retrograde period we “wake up” and realize the goods weren’t that necessary and that we may have lost some precious time chilling out. But, with that in mind, we should give in to Venus every once in a while, for it brings beauty and fragility in our lives, embellishing or just harmonizing them when we need that the most.
In a male chart, the placement of Venus in sign and house will help us identify they type of feminine characteristics to which he is attracted to.
